Dead Can Dance have an album with this on the cover (A passage in time).  Didn't know what it was before, but now I most certainly do.

Looks like woven fabric.  But yeah, nifty shot.  And now I know what it is :P  Though it is more identifiable here, cause you can see more detail, and the structure of the wing.
