I think it's just the hair that was pinned down when the mite locked onto the bee.

Haha, okay. I love all your pictures. I use an EF-S 60 and the BUILT-IN flash right now, but I'm gonna buy some extreme macro equipment someday soon ;). Thanks.

I live in India, where no one's heard of Kenko and Canon sells stuff at one and a half times the price it's sold elsewhere and takes two months to get less popular stuff like extension tubes. Thanks, anyway, I had no idea it went all the way to 3x with a set.

Again, surely I'll need a lens-mounted flash if I use extension, right?

If you use extension tubes then a lens mounted flash, or a standard flash on a bracket, is needed.
